Harkort Tower, Wetter an der Ruhr, Germany
The observation tower was built in 1884 in honor of the industrial pioneer and social politician Friedrich Harkort. Among other things, he fought for the prohibition of child labor, the establishment of health insurance for workers, school education for all and health protection for workers through the establishment of professional associations.
The Harkort Tower is 35 meters in height. It was built in the architectural style of historicism and has, for example, gothic pointed arches. The tower is close to the Ruhr and Lake Harkort and has been under monumental protection since 1984. It is part of the Industrial Culture Route in the Ruhr valley.
Such a beautiful landmark! And I love the history behind it! Thank you so much for the history lesson! ❤️
